Footloose!

I had the enjoyment of watching Murray's community musical of Footloose. My delightful brother played Lyle. I went with my parnts and Natalie on Friday and again with th parents, Adam, Aliese, and the Brits (Serena & Caroline). To be frank, the play was ok. Parts were swell...parts were dreadful. I am of the mindset that everything my brother touches turns to gold so all the scenes he was in were great. Really, only the adult cast was bad...by bad I mean dreadful. Anyhow...here are some pictures of the show.

The fit younger bru climbing a rope.

Still with the rope...two other boys made the effort but failed...hilarious.

Some country dancing.

More with the country dancing.

He jazzed...two thumbs up!

Some break dancing by Jacob and the little emo kid.

Big group dance number.

Jacob's curtain call...I missed the bow...drats.

His punk arms.
The end. Hope you enjoyed the poor picture quality. I wish myself better luck next time. Good work though little fella.

A cullinary masterpiece, Nickelcade, ...and...a ring?

I shall preface this by saying I wish I were a good cook. That's right...merely wish it. I occasionally and miraculously am successful in my endeavors but am no stranger to failure. This may seem silly to include as an important success considering the ease but this little treat was so pretty (and delicious) I had to give myself props.

What a pretty, fruity, summery delight!

Next stop: Nickelcade! Adam and I took Jacob (my bru), Natalie (my sis), and my 7-year-old twin cousins, Hayden and Caleb to the 'cade. It was a blast. The little boys started playing driving and shooting games which they usually quickly lost at. I redirected them to games that were more age appropriate and that issued tickets. They never went back. If it wasn't a ticket game, they weren't interested. When the time came to tally the tickets and claim a prize, the boys were very undecisive. We spent 30 minutes looking at the counter with them. In the end everybody got swell little prizes that I could've bought elsewhere for six pennies. I only wish I wouldv'e gotten a picture of Adam and Caleb wearing their false mustaches. Hilarious!

Hayden on a horse.

Caleb driving a car.
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for...

...the ring! It costed Adam ten tickets and after he got he came to me and slipped it on my finger. Awww! Sorry if I'm raging war on any gag reflexes out there. I told him I was going to continue wearing it and he said ok. So there you have it. (By the way, no strings have been attached to the pink friendship ring...other than the ones used to make it I suppose!)

Happy...or Crappy 24th of July

While many of you were enjoying a bit of this...

...I was doing a bit of this...

...and the children with crappy parents were in a similar situation as this...

...which is near drowning, by the way. All of the above pictures came from google images. (No cameras allowed in my place of work) Anyway, I didn't see any fireworks as many of you may have. I was lifeguarding. Where I work, many of the patrons are financially well off and don't seem to care much about their kids. I suppose they figure they can just buy a new one if the current child drowns. There were so many parents not with their very young children. Don't get me wrong, it's my job to save them and I'm happy to do it...but it'd sure be nice to have a parent around to hand off the terrified child too after I save its little life. Granted, I'm not a parent so I really don't know how difficult it is to pay attention to my toddler whilst working tanning my flawless, fake, expensively purchased body. My advice...if you care so much about yourself, don't spawn; if you do spawn, atleast care enough about your child to care if they're in a perilous situation or not. How obnoxious. Venting completed. Thanks for your time.

New Camera Day!

Yesterday was new camera day. I love getting new stuff even if it's the most ridiculous or generic item ever, I still love it (groceries, school supplies, etc.). I had been meaning to buy Adam a nice digital camera for a while now. He's going to China for ten days in August and I wanted to surprise him with a swell camera to capture all the good times with. I'm an idiot with surprises though. I didn't want to buy one he didn't like so yesterday we camera shopped together and found a winner. I'll spare you the technical tid-bits but it's an 8 mp Olympus. There were rad ones for loads more but ours is pretty sweet. I included pictures of the camera itself which I borrowed from the Best Buy website. Maybe this will help make the blog a little more interesting...hopefully.

Couch Day Pictures

I took all of these pictures on my phone so the quality is not fantastic. You'll get the general idea though. The color of the couch is much more attractive than the picture shows. You can see the difference in the length of the chaises pretty well in this picture. I also am a blog idiot and couldn't get the pictures to post in order. Anyway, above, is the massive couch in my parents basement. They've been gracious enough to let us keep it there for an unknown amount of time...hopefully not too long. The day (couch day) we bought it and moved it in, the whole family was sitting on it together...something new to this house. It was nice to have everybody in a normal conversational arrangement without anybody having to sit on the floor. What a swell couch. Now it's not really being used. It's covered in quilts for the sake of protection until it moves to a long term locale.

These pictures were taken in the showroom. Since Adam couldn't be there, we took pictures to persuade him to come back the next day. The size of the couch and the crowded showroom made it impossible to get a decent picture of the whole couch so it's in two pictures. In the right picture, my friend Brittany is on the long chaise "Vana-ing" the price tag.

Couch Day!

Because I'm somehow quite busy, I failed to alert the media of couch day. Couch day was June 21st for those of you who don't know. The story goes as follows: On Friday, June 20th, I had a swell day. I substituted for a first grade class and enjoyed it. I also learned that I am not structured enough to have more than fifteen little children under my direction. It was really fun but really crazy. Tears were shed...not by me...but all in all, the kids were adorable and I had such fun. I was on recess duty and a bunch of the kids just chilled with me instead of playing with their friends. Very cute. The teacher I subbed for is the mom of one of my good friends, Brittany. Brittany and her beau brought me lunch and hung out a bit. After school (Praises for Friday early day!), I hung out with Brittany and Kody. I was beat from all the first grade fun so I decided I shouldn't go to my other job (I have 3) as I wasn't fit to save lives. Fast forward a few hours. Brittany, Kody, and I were all going to meet Adam for dinner but he was running behind so we thought we waste a little time playing in Furniture Warehouse. We were just tired and felt like chilling. A saleswoman came up to us, no doubt in search of some commission, but left us alone seeing that we were merely being young and obnoxious. Unfortunately for her, our lounging soon became the search for the greatest couch. We found it. This couch was award winning, Brittany and I were huge fans. The camel colored chaise sectional with two chaises and comfort fit for a really high maintenance lazy person was swell. Brittany tried to beckon the saleswoman to return to our aid but the snooty priss looked at us and walked in the opposite direction. A decision she regretted, I'm sure. Because I salesman, Rick, overheard and came to the rescue. Rick discovered that this couch was the last of its kind and would be 25% off for the reason. Even better! I did what any homeowner in search for a sweet couch would do (I'm not a homeowner, by the way), I asked if he could hold it for us. The store closed, I told...begged Adam, we returned the following day. Saturday, we got there fairly early with two trucks in tow. Adam was going to see if it met his approval and if it did, we'd get it. The couch passed with flying colors and next thing I know, we're loading up sections of the couch. My family came with a third truck as I underestimated the size of our new couch. Whilst waiting for the third truck, Adam and I basked on the third piece of the sectional sitting on the sidewalk in front of the store...very classy. Since Adam and I aren't even betrothed and both still live with our parents, the couch purchase could easily be deemed premature. Thanks much to my swell parents for storing the very large but wonderful couch in their basement and to Adam and Jacob for undertaking the task of moving it into the basement! Yay for couch day! Pictures will be posted shortly.
