Let's talk car seats, shall we?

Avynlee is pretty big baby.  She has almost outgrown her infant carseat and is not quite 8 months old.  So, we need to start looking into getting her a new one.  She obviously still needs a 5 point harness and should probably stay rear facing.  I am debating between a convertible carseat and a high back booster with a 5 point harness.  The boosters I have looked into are foward facing only.  If I got a convertible one, would she just use the backless booster seat when she grows out of the convertible one?  I'm just wondering what others' experiences have been.  Any tips?

Both my older kids are still in 5 point convertible carseats at 5 and 3 years old. I'll probably move Peanut to a booster when the baby's big enough for a bigger seat and he can take over her old seat.

rear facing is now the law until two or thirty pounds. and since miss a is the skinniest big baby on earth i'd get the convertible. that's what we got. but ruby was 30 lbs. at one year. (OR TEN MONTHS!)

Definitely rear facing! I think all boosters Re forward facing, and I still have my almost 4 year old in a 5 point harness. Convertible is the way to go until 2.
