What's in a Name?

Adam and I are getting married next week. I'm so excited. I just hope I get better by then (I've been sick). When we get back from our honeymoon I plan to change my name. I'd change it sooner but I don't want to get a new passport yet. I was thinking about what I would do...keep the maiden name...ditch it...etc.. I'm undecided. What did you guys do? And why? I have a poll too...it's over there -> . Frankly, I may ignore any suggestions altogether but that doesn't mean I'm not interested.

If you haven't received an invitation and want to let me know (Meg, Adam should have given yours to Brian).

We're all totally stressed. Also excited. Just found out the Alaskans are coming which is rad.

Once we move it may be a while before we have internet so my posting might be rare for the first little while.

I debated about this too before I changed my name. My mom, who kept her maiden name and ditched the middle name, told me that I should keep my middle name and ditch my maiden name. Her reasoning was that people ask for different reasons what your maiden name was, but if you get rid of your middle name it rarely ever comes up. So thats what I did.

Legally I dropped my maiden name, added my married name, and kept my middle name. I kind of wish I'd kept my maiden name and just added my married name because I like my maiden name, too. Oh, well. When I perform, though (not that I have recently), I hyphenate my maiden and married last names because so many people know me by one but don't know the other. Plus I like the way they sound together. :) GL getting it changed. I had to cut classes to do mine and then when I changed them at school it totally screwed up my records but that's another story. . . .

This is a crazy post. I was e-mail Adam, Chad and Cameron's phone numbers when I thought, "I wonder what Jen is going to do with her middle name" (I remembered your middle name because it's my Moms). Not that a guy should be thinking about those kinds of things, but I just don't ever remember Amy giving it any kind of thougt, and since after you sign up with the social security people, it becomes your official name. Kind of a big deal I think. Anyway, good luck choosing, just kind of coincidential I was thinking about it.

I'm a rebel. I haven't changed a thing! At first, it was just because I was applying for grad school and had transcripts from 3 different schools and didn't want there to be ANY problems or questions. But then the first week of school, I had to get my intern license and I still had my maiden name. And now, I'm just lazy and wondering if I can get Trent to change first. I've thought about hyphenating, but I still don't know...2 1/2 years later.

I just got your invitation... so cute! I am sorry I can't be there! When we got married, I changed my name and completely dropped my maiden name. I am Meagan Maureen Gruwell. I guess I just didn't want to be a Cotter anymore.

I kept everything. I'm pretty attached to Rebecca and just couldn't stomach dropping "Chipman"-even though I've pretty much disliked it since middle school.
