I would want a glider purely so I have some "help" with the rocking motion. While I think the stationary chair is cuter, I definitely think a glider/rocker is more appropriate (and useful) in a nursery.
Anything that rocks (and it helps if you can put your feet up too) will be ideal, I say. I was really surprised about how rocking really did soothe my baby. I'm a genius, I know :) Congrats, btw!!! You will love being a mom!
My Dad made me a Rocker when I was pregnant with my first. I absolutly loved it and I still use it to this day. That was six and a half years ago. I would hope you would invest in a rocker--they are wonderful ;)
